Investigating Accountants Report (IAR)

An Investigating Accountant’s Report (IAR) is an independent review of a company’s historical and/ or projected financial information. In many situations, it will also include pro forma financial information to factor in any proposed transactions or activity.

The opinion provided generally states that the historical and pro forma information disclosed is:

  • Properly prepared on the basis of the disclosed assumptions
  • Prepared on a reasonable basis
  • Presented fairly in accordance with relevant recognition and measurement principles, other mandatory reporting requirements and disclosed accounting policies adopted.
